PandaDoc and Copper CRM
Yes, PandaDoc integrates with Copper through a native app built into Copper, on PandaDoc Business or Enterprise and Copper Professional or Business. Reps create, send and track proposals, quotes and contracts from Opportunities, Leads, People and Companies, with Copper fields filled in as variables. This page covers what it does, how to set it up, the limits, and how to get Copper updated when a deal is signed.
What the native integration does
| PandaDoc plan | Business or Enterprise (compare in the plan guide) |
| Copper plan | Professional or Business (API access required) |
| Send from | Opportunities, Leads, People and Companies |
| Data into documents | Copper fields, including custom fields, as variables; contact details through template roles |
| Back in Copper | Document status in the PandaDoc panel on the record it was created from |
| Where it lives | Native app inside Copper (the Chrome extension is being phased out) |
| Workspaces and region | Connected per PandaDoc workspace (see multi-brand setups); pandadoc.com only, not pandadoc.eu |
How to set it up, in order
- 1
Confirm both plans
PandaDoc must be on Business or Enterprise. Copper must be on Professional or Business, because those are the Copper plans with API access. The integration only works with pandadoc.com accounts, not pandadoc.eu.
- 2
Install the native app as a Copper admin
In Copper go to Settings, Integrations, Native Integrations and install PandaDoc. Only a Copper admin can set it up. The native app replaces the old Chrome extension: if your team still has the extension, remove it so reps work from one panel.
- 3
Authenticate PandaDoc
Sign in to PandaDoc from the app and choose OAuth2 (click Authorize) or Client Credentials (your Copper API key and user email). A PandaDoc admin installs and connects it for each workspace the team sends from.
- 4
Build roles and variables into the template
Open the template, add a role under Manage roles, then copy the role variables from the Variables tab into the document. Copper fields, including custom fields, arrive as variables in square brackets. Remember the rule: one data source (leads, companies or people) per template.
- 5
Create a test document from each record type
From an Opportunity, Lead, Person or Company, open the PandaDoc panel and click Create a new document. From an Opportunity, the owner and primary contact are suggested as recipients: assign them to roles, click Start editing, check and send.
- 6
Decide what Copper should know afterwards
Document status shows on the record you sent from. Anything more, such as moving the opportunity stage when a proposal is signed, is not part of the native app and needs Zapier or the API (see below).
Pricing and quotes without a Copper quote object
Copper has no native Quote object, so pricing does not flow in from the CRM the way it does from a HubSpot or Zoho quote. The practical pattern is to send from the Opportunity and keep products and prices in PandaDoc: a pricing table fed from the product catalog, or the quote builder for optional items and tiers. The opportunity value and custom fields can still be pulled in as variables for the cover page and summary.
Getting Copper updated after signing
The native app shows document status, but it does not move opportunity stages or write values back. Zapier closes that gap with triggers and actions that both apps already publish:
| When this happens in PandaDoc | Do this in Copper |
|---|---|
| Document Completed | Update Opportunity: move it to won and set the signed value |
| Document Status Changed | Update Opportunity or Create Activity, so the record shows sent, viewed or declined |
| Document Paid | Update Opportunity or Create Task for onboarding |
The reverse direction works too: a Copper trigger such as Updated Opportunity Stage can run PandaDoc's Create Document action. Mind the usage credits and limits covered in the PandaDoc Zapier integration guide; when logic outgrows zaps, the PandaDoc API with webhooks is the next step.
Known limits and how to work around them
| What you see | Why, and the fix |
|---|---|
| No quote object to send from | Copper has no native Quote object. Send from the Opportunity and build pricing in the PandaDoc pricing table or catalog, not in Copper. |
| A template will not take both company and person data | Only one data source (leads, companies or people) connects per template. Split templates by record type, or carry the extra fields onto the record you send from. |
| The document is missing on the company or person | Documents only appear on the record they were created from. A document sent from a deal does not show on the associated person or company. |
| Your account is on pandadoc.eu | The Copper integration is only compatible with pandadoc.com. EU-hosted accounts need Zapier or the API instead. |
| Reps cannot find the app | The Copper plan may be below Professional, or the PandaDoc workspace has not been connected. Documents also stay inside the workspace they were created in. |
| The opportunity stage never changes | The native app tracks status but does not move stages. Use a Zapier zap: PandaDoc Document Completed, then Copper Update Opportunity. |
Variables that arrive empty are usually a naming or data source problem: the fixes in PandaDoc merge variables not populating apply here too.
Where a Copper build gets hard
Connecting the app is quick. The work is in what comes after: templates per record type that respect the one data source rule, conditional content by service or region, pricing and discount rules in PandaDoc CPQ in place of a CRM quote, approvals, and the automations that keep Copper honest after signing. That is the part we take on in a PandaDoc implementation.

PandaDoc and Copper CRM questions
Still have questions? Book a free call
Does PandaDoc integrate with Copper CRM?
Yes. PandaDoc has a native app built into Copper. Reps create, send and track proposals, quotes and contracts from Opportunities, Leads, People and Companies, with Copper fields, including custom fields, filled in as variables and document status visible on the record.
Which plans do I need for the PandaDoc Copper integration?
PandaDoc Business or Enterprise, and Copper Professional or Business (the Copper plans with API access). It works with pandadoc.com accounts only, not pandadoc.eu.
Is the PandaDoc Chrome extension for Copper still needed?
No. The native app inside Copper replaces the Chrome extension, which is being phased out. Install the native app from Settings, Integrations, Native Integrations, and remove the extension.
Can PandaDoc update the Copper opportunity when a proposal is signed?
Not through the native app, which shows document status on the record. To move a stage or update fields on completion, connect PandaDoc and Copper in Zapier: the Document Completed or Document Status Changed trigger, then the Update Opportunity action. For larger builds, the PandaDoc API with webhooks does the same with more control.
Do I need a consultant to set up PandaDoc with Copper?
Not for the install: a Copper admin can connect it and map a few variables in an afternoon. Help pays off when templates need many fields, conditional content, pricing rules, approvals, or automations that keep Copper up to date after signing. The free self-check gives a directional answer in two minutes.
